In what likely was Cmdr "Corky" Erie's last show as chief cook and bottle washer, The NAS Oceana Airshow once again showed why it has become a "can't miss" event for fans in North America. Even without the beloved F-14, the show was top notch non stop action, both military and civilian. From more Hornets in the air than you'll see almost anywhere to Shockwave, there was something for everyone. One of the first F-22 demos had everyone's mouth agape in amazement. This miltary plane did things that only aerobatic ones had done in the past. Truly an air superiority fighter!

Rob Reider once again handled an airshow tragedy - the death of Jan Wildbergh of the Geico
Skytypers - with grace and dignity. The show went on, with many performers dedicating their routines to Jan, and the Blue Angels flying the "Missing Man" formation for him and their recently lost pilot, Kevin Davis.  The Heritage Flight was very special, with the F-22 joining the F-15, F-86, and P-51!

Let's see what Corky's replacement can do in 2008!
