Thunder on the Lakeshore Airshow, Manitowoc, WI June 2-3, 2007

Story and photography by Robert Bell

The weather at Manitowoc was unusual this year to say the least. On Friday, it was foggy, and on Saturday heavy rain interrupted the show. The flying after the weather cleared was well worth the wait. The access allowed by the airshow producer, Curt Drumm, and by the airboss, Wayne Boggs, is why this show is still one of my favorites.

Performers included Patty Wagstaff, John Mohr, Steve Oliver, Dale "Snort" Snodgrass flying the P-51 "Excaliber", Fowler Big Dog Cary in the T-33, and Bill Blank in his Super Decathlon. The military was well-represented by the F/A-18 demo team and the F-16 East Demo Team.

After the airshow on Saturday, the weather was perfect for taking pictures, so I hung around and got some more photographs which included the B-25 "Pacific Prowler", a T-33 owned by Paul Koeppeler, and an FM-2 Wildcat owned by Mike Gillian.
