The Highland Lakes Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force held it's annual
airshow on Saturday April 14, 2007 at Burnet. Texas. Despite the cold and high
winds, some aircraft made it to the show. Amongst them was Randy Ball and his
beautiful Russian MiG-17, the Lone Star Flight Museum's Skyraider, CAF's B-25s -
Devil Dog and Yellow Rose - and a Fouga Magister painted in French colors.
Others that showed up were some T-6 Texans, L-Birds, the Falcon Flight (private
homebuilts which do formation flying) and an Apache Attack helicopter from Ft.
Hood, Tx.
This year again, the weather held back other warbirds from making the show as
bad thunderstorms and tornadoes were in the area. Some of the pilots risked the
high winds and did a flying show and fly-bys to please the sparse crowd. This
show is only one day, but the members of the squadron put in an all out effort
to make it an great show. As in past years, however, the weather will not
cooperate all the time.
