The Blue Angels made their first ever appearance in Battle Creek, Michigan at the 2007 Field of Flight Airshow on June 29th and July 1st. The airshows also marked the first time the team has performed in southwest Michigan in over a decade.

In addition to the Blue Angels, the show was supported by additional USAF flight demonstrations, and a virtual all-star team of civilian performers. All of the performers put on dazzling shows, however, several standout performances included John Mohr’s Barnstorming and the formation flying of Michael Mancuso and Matt Chapman.

Mohr performed a solo routine, and later partnered with Otto the Helicopter to transfer stuntman Todd Green between Mohr’s Stearman and the helicopter. Both Mancuso and Chapman flew solo routines, and later teamed up to provide an impressive demonstration of formation acrobatic flying.

The USAF was represented by the F-16 Viper (East) and the F-117 Nighthawk. The F-16 was joined by Gen. Reg Urschler (retired) piloting the P-51 Mustang “Gunfighter”, and participated in the popular Heritage Flight. Sunday’s F-117 flight may become the type’s final Michigan appearance, as the Nighthawk is scheduled to be retired by the USAF sometime in 2008.
