| Some
people call it the Sh-wa, but the real name is
Oshawa. Oshawa is the home for
the headquarters for General Motors Canada and the Canadian Automotive
Museum. The Sh-wa is also home for the Canadian Aviation Expo.
Held every year at the Oshawa Airport, the expo is a mini Osh-Kosh, featuring many manufactures, dealers and trades.
This year’s expo is a little smaller from the past. But it featured a great little airshow with Patty Wagstaff and Rick Volker as the main draw. Rick was to have flown twice during the show, once in the Russell group Spitfire and his SU26-M. While his daily practice session on Friday, the gas filler cap dislodged while inverted and Rick had to park his plane in bean field. Other equally important acts were Dan Buchanan, the Canadian Harvard Association, Jim Parker, the Viper North L-29 and all the manufacturers who showed off their aircraft in flight. Two of the more interesting were jets from Cessna and Eclipse. The expo even drew former Snowbird Major Chris Van Vilet to describe the Eclipse.
