On Saturday, June 8th the Peachtree-Dekalb airport had their annual Good Neighbor Day airshow. Several world class air show pilots wowed the crowd with amazing performances. From an inverted ribbon cut by Greg Koontz, power aerobatics by Gary Ward, precision aerobatic maneuvers by 18 year old pheonom Alex Land, a member of the United States Advanced Aerobatic Team to graceful looping and rolling maneuvers by local aviation legend Pat Epps, air show fans were thoroughly entertained.
The Epps aviation hangar was the center point of a great aviation day and hosted two superb aviation artists in Sam Lyons and Marc Stewart. Sam Lyons also took his turn at the microphone as an assistant airshow announcer.
The day was very hot with sweltering temperatures but the airshow crowds enjoyed looking at the exhibits and static displays which included many warbirds from the Commemorative Air Force, a USAF C-130, and several other aircraft open for public viewing.
The airshow was a very family friendly event. No one could complain about the price of admission, $3 for parking, no matter how many people could be crammed into the car and free admission to the show itself. There was plenty to do for everyone from young children to adults. Food prices were very reasonable for an airshow. In conclusion, Peachtree-Dekalb airport lived up to the name of their show. I look forward to next year’s extravaganza.
