Blue Ash Airport Days

Cincinnati, OH September 22-23, 2007

Story and photography by Hugh Montgomery

Lovely weather greeted the denizens of the Queen City on the Ohio as they visited one of the top "country airshows" in the United States. As usual, there was much more than simply metal in the air, although there was plenty of that! With a runway too short for jets, Blue Ash has to stay with warbirds and aerobats. Lucky attendees saw multiple flybys from Panchito, the classic DAV B-25, and the beautiful P-51 "Cincinnati Miss" of the Tri State Warbird Museum.

With airshow emcee extraordinary Rob Reiderat the microphone (to whose recently deceased wife the show was dedicated), the large crowd witnessed Steve Vaughn of the North Coast Airshow Sky Diving Team jump a 5,000 square foot flag for the opening ceremonies - his 9000th jump - and aerobatics performed by Brett Hunter, Cliff Robinson, The Firebirds, Red Eagle rookie Adam Mercure, with the Lima Lima Flight Team as the headline act along with the warbird flybys.

For ground pounders there were static displays, a car show, monster truck rides, an Air Force display, a World War II encampment, a motorcycle show, a Kidzone, a 5k run, and the World Stunt Freestyle Motorcycle Team that wowed all with their "X Games" style exploits.

So, once again, the Blue Ash show proved to be a "can't miss" opportunity for Cincinnatians to see top notch entertainers both high in the sky and down on the pavement. See you in '08 for the 12th annual!
