Beautiful Brandywine Airport in West Chester, Pa. was the place to be on October 13 & 14, 2007. With the changing colors of the leaves for fall as the airport’s backdrop, Mother Nature turned out two very sunny and reasonably warm days for the 11th annual all-helicopter airshow benefiting the American Helicopter Museum and Education Center in conjunction with David Schultz Airshows LLC.
This show is touted as the only all-helicopter airshow in the United States. This year’s weather helped set attendance records for this annual event with Saturday having the largest one-day crowd in this event’s history. With the United States Army Special Operations Command Black Daggers parachute team headlining this event, this show had a strong military presence, along with several civilian demonstrations including an autogyro and a Bell 47. The crowd was treated to several exciting demo’s featuring an assault demo by a USMC.
A CH-46 Sea Knight from HMM-774 based at NAS Norfolk, and a SAR complete with victim being raised in a rescue basket by a USCG HH-65 Dauphin helicopter from Coast Guard Station Atlantic City was also on the schedule. Sunday, the event closed out with the fan favorite mass military departure. This year’s mass departure included a UH-60 Blackhawk, a CH-47 Chinook, an AH-64 Apache, the CH-46 Sea Knight, and a UH-1 Huey with each helicopter making several passes. Make sure you mark your calendars for this annual event next year with the dates being October 11 & 12, 2008. |
