Friendly Foes Above the Falls, Ft. Erie, Ontario June 8-10, 2007

Story by Kerry J. Newstead Photography by John Newstead

The skies over Fort Erie, Ontario were filled with trainers and fighters once again at the 3rd Annual Friendly Foes above the Falls.

The show featured the Russell Raiders -- a Spitfire, Hurricane, and BF109. There was help from the Great War Flying Museum providing some of their WWI replicas. The Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association provided their collection of Harvards along with Ed Russell’s Harvard. From south of the border came the B-17 Memphis Belle and a lone Grumman Avenger.

The show was started with skydivers and then the flying started. New to this year’s flying was the appearance of a new pilot for the Spitfire – Mr. Rick Volker. On the ground beside the various aircraft were re-enactors and vehicles from WWII.

There has been talk of having another Friendly Foes above the Falls next year.
