The World Airshow News Story: Available in Bookstores Nationwide! World Airshow News (WAN) was published continuously from 1986 to May 2004 as a trade magazine. In July 2004, it was relaunched as a colorful, lively magazine of airshows, airshow performers, airshow acts, and related companies and activities. At that time the magazine underwent a dramatic redesign, in preparation for its debut at bookstores and specialty shops. March, 2005 marked the official national rollout of the magazine, which now appears in hundreds of bookstores and specialty shops across the U.S. WAN is currently the only airshow-only magazine on U.S. newsstands. The magazine is published six-times per year. (Jan/Feb, Mar/Apr, May/Jun, Jul/Aug, Sep/Oct and Nov/Dec). (Plus Airshow Professional, which is our annual catalog of Airshows Services.) Editorial Editorial coverage will continue to serve both airshow fans and airshow people. While the magazine offers the industry's only avenue of a "second opinion" in the small world of performers and planners, content primarily focuses on the excitement of the airshow world. Advertising WAN is now the most colorful, most widely read, and most economical magazine in the industry, reaching more than 7,000 readers (including pass-along copies) with its combination of subscriptions and newsstand sales. Although our ad rates are comparable to those of the industry's trade magazines, our total readership includes virtually the entire industry, plus an equal number of airshow supporters, fans, and non-association performers and businesses. The World Airshow News Staff Jeff Parnau, Editor-at-Large. Jeff has been called a living legend in the magazine publishing business. He's authored several books on the industry, and has given hundreds of seminars on various publishing topics around the world since 1978. Jeff has a commercial license with instrument and multi-engine ratings, he’s a CFI, and he flies a variety of aircraft from his East Troy, Wisconsin base, including an open-cockpit 1986 Skybolt, Cirrus SR22-G2, several Light Sport Aircraft, and also teaches in a Decathlon. Jeff is also the owner and president of East Troy Aviation, Inc., which operates the local FBO. Sandra Parnau, Advertising Director. If you've called the WAN phone number, you've heard the voice of the energetic and friendly Sandy. She received her degree in supervisory management from Waukesha County Technical College (WI), and spent 13 years supervising customer service representatives. You will appreciate her attention to detail when you have any questions regarding advertising, subscriptions, materials or dates. Sandy looks forward to meeting our subscribers and advertisers at upcoming shows.  Jim Froneberger, Editor. After over twenty years in banking, a career-changing move to aviation writing and photography led Jim to his position as Editor of World Airshow News. He began as a feature writer, but now manages the development of the editorial content you read in each issue. Jim resides in North Carolina. Denise Decker and Michael J. Gallagher, Contributing Editors. Our two Contributing Editors supply a significant portion of the feature content you read in each issue. They each seem to attend more airshows in a single season than most people do in ten years. Michael resides in Illinois and covers many Midwest shows, but he also ventures to other major events to grab those special stories and interviews. Denise lives in Virginia but jets all over the country, primarily to larger shows. The cookies she bakes and takes to airshows nationwide are legendary and have earned her the nickname, “The Cookie Lady.” Kerry J. Newstead, Canadian Editor, Calendar Editor. We don't know how he does it, but Kerry seems to attend more Canadian airshows than the performers. Kerry also maintains our comprehensive airshow calendar and helps coordinate our extensive team of freelance contributors.   Scott Slocum, Senior Photographer. A former Editor of a regional General Aviation magazine, Scott is emerging as one of the top air-to-air photographers in the business. His stunning images have added new life to our covers and center spreads as he continues to amaze us with his talents. Scott is based out of Dallas, Texas. Terence Malefic, Art Director. Based in New York, Terence is responsible for the eye-popping page designs you see in each issue. Without his expert design skills, we would just be a collection of pictures and words. Jon Houghtaling, Webmaster. Jon is responsible for the new look and feel of www.airshowmag.com. A dedicated airshow photographer himself, you’ll also see Jon’s images in our Airshow Highlights in the print publication and in our online Airshow Briefs. Jon lives in North Carolina. Brad Haskin, Air Racing. A regular at the National Championship Air Races in Reno, Brad keeps us linked-in to the exciting world of air racing. Brad’s entertaining writing makes you feel as if you are right there watching the Unlimited racers scream around the pylons. World Airshow News Columnists Hugh Oldham. His vast experience in the industry, his irrepressible wit, and his brass whatchamcallems always produce a response, whether it be interest, amazement, or flat out disagreement. He is a full time airshow performer and teaches basic aerobatics at his Flight School/Bed & Breakfast called Sky Country Lodge in Alabama. Greg serves on the ICAS A.C.E. committee, holds an unlimited aerobatic waiver, and is designated a Master Certified Flight Instructor-Aerobatics by the National Association of Flight Instructors.
