It was General Aviation Day May 15 at Paine Field, Everett, Washington. Good weather, big crowds and lots of piston powered vintage aircraft, including an abundance of historic warbirds for static display and flying demonstrations. The day began at 9 am with a Pancake Breakfast and Young Eagle registration.
Hosted and sponsored by the Washington Pilots Association (Paine Field Chapter) and Paine Field Airport, among others, including The Flying Heritage Collection, Historic Flight Foundation, and The Museum of Flight Restoration Center. The Cascade Warbird Squadron 2 was also in attendance as was a visiting P-51D Mustang and crew from the Heritage Flight Museum, Bellingham, WA.
The face of aviation history is a changing in the Pacific Northwest, thanks in large part to The Museum of Flight at Boeing and Paine Fields, Philanthropist Paul G. Allen, (FHC), collector John T. Sessions (HFF), the William Anders Family (HFM), and Businessman Brian Reynolds, (Olympic Flight Museum). Turnouts by the general public at these Museums and their sponsored events augurs well, not only for General Aviation overall but likewise speaks loudly for the display and flight of historic aircraft.
