The Burnet TX Bluebonnet Airshow was held on Saturday April 10th. It was a great taste of small town America.
Many of the static displays were the Commemorative Air Force aircaft themselves and most of them flew throughout the day. Included are the beautifully restored C-47 Skytrain Bluebonnet Belle and it is the centerpiece of the Burnet CAF squadron. Her repainted interior is being restored to its original military configuration. It's silver metal finish is a sight to behold. Their L17 Navion was in the hangar undergoing maintenance. Their SNJ-4 Texan and PT19 Cornell really look good too. A P40 Warhawk that was there was also beautifully restored. Jan Collmer and his Extra 300 went thru their outstanding paces (Jan is 70, ya gotta love it). The highlight was an air-ground demo from the A-10 West Demo Team based at Davis Monthan AFB, AZ. Bad to the bone!
A special thanks to Steve Oswalt of the Burnet CAF squadron for all his help. First class! |
