The American Waco Club held its annual Fly-In at Dauster Flying Field (Creve Coeur Airport) near St. Louis, MO June 10-13, 2010. Aside from actual business being conducted for the club, this event attracts Waco flyers from all over the country just to see who might stop in. Along with the Waco Club members, other vintage aircraft are invited to join the festivities. The best part is that the public is welcome to enjoy going back in time to experience what life was like at a small airport in the 1930s. |
| Saturday is when the greatest variety of aircraft can be found, and this year was no exception. Many varieties of Waco aircraft were present, from one and two-place open cockpit biplanes to full cabin “executive” models. Classic Stearman, Aeronca, Navion, Piper and Cessna aircraft were also on hand, along with the more modern Cirrus and RV-8. Robert Grist’s yellow and black Waco EQC-6 was particularly interesting, having been used as a photo ship for many years by the previous owner. New-build Wacos are also becoming available, allowing another generation to experience the magic of flying the Waco! |
