The 13th version of this all helicopter airshow was held this year on October 3 & 4.  In these economic hard times, David Schultz Airshows LLC was still able to get a large array of rotary aircraft, and a large number of spectators to come out to the Brandywine Airport.

This event is put on by the American Helicopter Museum & Education Center. For a small admission price of $10, you not only were able to witness three individual airshow segments, but you were also able to tour the American Helicopter Museum & Education Center for no additional cost.  How is that for bang for your buck!

The show continually builds from one airshow segment to the next with intermissions between each segment.  The first segment featured all civilian helicopters.  The second segment featured a demo of a life flight helicopter complete with a patient extraction, a NOTAR (no tail rotor) MD902, and displays from Lockheed Martin of a UH-1 Huey & the very odd looking K-1200 Kmax.  The third segment featured mostly the heavy iron of the military.  The USMC was represented by a UH-1 Huey, and two AH-1W Super Cobras.  The USAF was represented by a UH-1 Huey from Andrews AFB.

On Sunday, after the conclusion of each groups demonstrations, they departed the area. They were then followed by the Lockheed Martin UH-1 Huey & K-1200 Kmax, who performed a nice formation pass before departing the area. This mass military departure has become a spectator favorite for the Sunday airshow.  The featured performer for this year was the U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) Black Daggers parachute team.  The Black Daggers performed two jumps, their show jump in the first segment of this three part show, followed by their famous combat equipment jump in the third segment to officially close the show.  With great weather, large crowds, and a lot of helicopters, this show can be considered nothing but a success. Already looking forward to the 2010 show.
