In the fall 2008 Charley Fox was killed in a car accident returning home from a Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association meeting.

Today In his memory with his family present the control tower at the Ed Russell Group, was dedicated to Charley Fox, a war veteran, a fighter ace and a very good friend to all who met him.

A young gentle from the Niagara region started a project having veterans sign a flag of memory, he collected names from all wars up to modern veterans.

The show started with Burnaby Skydivers. Many aircraft associations were present at this year’s event. From Guelph, ON the Tiger Boys came with their Tiger Moths, out of Brampton, Ontario the Great War Flying Museum, 1941 HAG from Geneseo, NY and CAF came up with a few of their planes. The Air Reserve from Niagara Falls, NY made a fantastic high speed pass of one of their Hercules. Both Rick Volker and Canadian Harvard Aerobatic Team were pulling double duty at two shows in Southern Ontario.  But they made beautiful magic in the skies over Fort Erie, ON.  The first maneuver of the Harvard’s was dedicated to a Greg “Buzzsaw “ Tyrell, former president and team coordinator  for the CHAA, who passed away in December from cancer.

The Russell Rangers made two flights during the day, the second was to join up with the CWH Lancaster. The flights were sans the Bf109, which had a near catastrophic incident on Thursday night. The incident left the 109 with a gaping hole in the leading edge of the left wing.
